July 2024 Meeting: Fantasy Homebrew Draft!

For this meeting, those that registered for the Fantasy Homebrew Competition will be drafting ingredients. Normally, there is at least one curve-ball (wrong sport, I know) ingredient and the drafts have been fun to watch (as well as take part in). As always, we will have plenty of beer sharing, a commercial calibration (we’ll drink and discussed some commercial beers), and plenty of time for fellowship.

The meeting is on July 11, 7:30pm at Queen City Clay. See the diagram below for where to park and enter.
Note that the Norwood Lateral is closed in the westbound direction!

If you’re interested in participating in the next barrel project (will need to have an imperial stout fermented and ready to go into a barrel around early September), contact Mike Florez.

June 2024 Meeting: Cellar Cleanout

For this meeting, bring an old beer! Whether it’s something special and shareable, something forgotten in the back of the fridge, or something that sounded good when you bought it and now… you’re not sure. And we’ll help Matt clean out his cellar!

If you have a beer for the Inter-club tournament on June 22, bring a sample to this meeting. If we have more than two candidate beers, we will sample and decide.

The July meeting will be the Fantasy Homebrew Draft. If you are interested in participating, contact Matt B so he can plan appropriately.

May 2024 Meeting: Field Trip to Sam Adams Taproom

we will be taking a field trip to the Sam Adams Taproom in OTR. The taproom will be tapping Tim McKee’s Czech Pilsner, Czech It Out!. There will be a discussion about scaling homebrew batch sizes to commercial from Chris Siegman, the Taproom Brewer. We are starting the meeting a little early to give more time before the taproom closes at 9:00 PM.

The meeting will be at 7:00 PM at the Sam Adams Taproom. Parking is available nearby at pay lots or at parking meters.

Do not bring homebrew to this meeting, instead bring money to enjoy some of the taproom-exclusive beers.

April 2024 Meeting: Baltic Porters

This month’s program will be about Baltic Porters. These are a stronger beer that started to be produced out of countries bordering the Baltic Sea when imports of English porters and stouts was interrupted to that region in the 1800s (source: BJCP, and that link will also tell you about the aroma, appearance, flavor, and mouthfeel you should expect with these).

The meeting is at 7:30pm at Queen City Clay. See the diagram below for where to park and enter.

Note that the Norwood Lateral is closed in the eastbound direction!
