April 2020 Virtual Meetings

With the Covid-19 situation and the Governor’s ban on gatherings, we will not be meeting in person this week. We (the club officers) decided to try to do some virtual meetings. Rather than 20+ of us get together on one call, we are going to try for some small group meetings to discuss video seminars. The seminars listed below mirror the sign-up groups.

Where possible, both a free and an AHA Membership Required video have been included.

February 2020 Meeting

The next club meeting is on February 13 at Sam Adams Taproom at 7:30 PM. Do not bring any homebrew to this meeting.

Reminders

Membership dues are due! Bring your dues to the next meeting or pay online. (note: yes, the website says ‘2018 dues’, we’ll fix that soon, and PayPal will ‘dump’ you into the BrewComp site – we’ll fix that soon also).

Volunteer Opportunities

We would like an assistant treasurer to help with treasurer duties when the treasurer is not available. This person will assist with the cash box at meetings, and may be added as an authorized signatory (this is a simple process). If you’re interested, contact Tim McDonald.

BJCP Classes

There has been some discussion about doing some BJCP classes/tastings before meetings, starting at 7:00 on meeting nights and at the meeting location. If you’re interested, talk to Will or Rick.

Competition Reminders

The All American Homebrew Competition on 3/7 is accepting entries, judges, and stewards. We need your help! We will be sorting bottles on 3/5 at Paradise Brewing at 7:00 PM.

The Bockfest Competition on 2/29 is also accepting entries, judges, and stewards. This is usually a smaller/shorter tasting.
For those that were accepted into the National Homebrew Competition, we will be organizing a bottle drop-off. We’ll talk about this at the next meeting. There will likely be needs for judges and stewards as well.

The Hammerdown Competition is coming in April.

March Meeting

The March Meeting will be March Madness – 8 homebrews vs. 8 commercial brews. Stay tuned for sign-up information if you can bring a growler or 6 pack for the sweet (or bitter… or hoppy) 16.

CMI Christmas Party is Thursday December 6, 2019

Hi Everyone,

Christmas is coming soon, and CMI is ready to celebrate.

This year we will have the party at Norwood Community Center on Thursday December 5, 2019 at 7 pm.

1810 Courtland Ave

Cincinnati OH, 45212

Tim McDonald will bring pulled pork and everyone please bring a side or dessert. Contact Tim McDonald with what you are bringing and how many people.

We will do a white elephant style beer exchange. If you would like to participate, bring a wrapped quality 4 or 6 pack or craft beer to exchange.

Hope to see everyone there. Merry Christmas! 🎄

Next MEETING is Nov 14, 2019

This Thursday our program will be Homebrew Hacks. Do you do anything to save time or money? Have you engineered your system to fit your needs? Have any advice for your fellow brewers?  Then bring your ideas this week!
If you have one or ten ideas/items, please respond to this and let me know so I can get idea of how many we will discuss. You can bring in equipment, bring pictures, or simply just explain what you do.  Also, feel free to chime in during our discussion Thursday as well!
I truly feel you learn something new every time you brew with someone, so I know there can be a lot to be gained from each other.

Meeting starts at 7:30 pm
