August 2023 Meeting: Malt Tasting and Evaluation

Step into a world of sensory delight as we embark on a journey to taste and evaluate the finest malt teas in our upcoming meeting. Like true connoisseurs, we’ll immerse ourselves in the art of discerning flavors, aromas, and textures that make each malt tea unique. From the first gentle sip to the lingering aftertaste, we’ll explore a wide spectrum of profiles – from the rich, caramel notes of roasted barley to the subtle sweetness of pale malt. As we gather to discuss and savor these exquisite brews, let’s hone our palates and uncover the hidden complexities that lie within every cup. Join us for an evening of camaraderie and appreciation of the age-old tradition of malt teas; together, we’ll celebrate the art of brewing and the pleasure it brings to our senses. Cheers!

The meeting is August 10 at 7:30 PM at Queen City Clay. Park at the blue Ps and enter the building at the red arrows in the image below.

July 2023 Meeting: Fantasy Homebrew Draft

For the July meeting, we will be holding our second annual Fantasy Homebrew Draft. We will draft brewing ingredients and process variables similar to how Fantasy Football drafts wide receivers (malts) and running backs (hops). Those that enter will be expected to brew a beer with those ingredients (etc) and bring back enough to share for the September meeting. There will be two winning beers decided in September – one judged by BJCP judges for the style entered and one that is a people’s choice award based on votes by all meeting participants. For various reasons, we need to limit participation in the draft, if you are interested in drafting/brewing, contact Matt B.

The meeting is July 13 at 7:30 PM at Queen City Clay. Park at the blue Ps and enter the building at the red arrows in the image below.

May 2023 Meeting: Pale Ales

We will have a discussion led by our esteemed high-ranking BJCP Judges about all things pale ales. Of course there will be some to sample (and probably a lot of sharing of pale ales and India pale ales and beers labeled as such that may or may not be what they claim to be) at the meeting.
