Topic: Hot Fermented Beers  and an Eye Popping Raffle

Learn about Norwegian Farmhouse Ales with their unique yeast, the kveik strain and the hot hot fermentation temperatures.

I you have a homebrew example of a beer that you fermented at a high temperature and can bring a growler or a few bottles to share, please let Chris Siegman know: csiegman2@gmail.com

Beer and Sweat: enter your kegs and sign up to judge or steward  Date of event: Aug 19th

October’s Best the annual CMI fall Home Brew competition will be on October 7th.  We need plenty of judges and stewards. Please sign up early.

Site will be open to register on September 1st through September 30.

What a year so far!

Hi CMI members,

2017 has met it’s halfway point for meetings, and what a great 6 months it has been.  Here’s a quick recap of the year so far:

Jan 2017 we discussed Barrel Aging  and have filled the barrel at Woodburn Brewery with a KBS clone.

Feb 2017 we discussed Bock Beers and went on to win 4 medals at the Bockfest competition.

Mar 2017 we had a Sweet 16 of beers with homebrews going up against commercial beer: Mike Florez came in second to the Rhinegeist beer Knowledge.

Apr 2017 we discussed short turn around time beers.

May 2017 we had our annual meeting at Mt. Carmel with a pot luck and food truck event.

Jun 2017 we paired beer and cheese.

 

On the competition front there  were many success stories:

Winter Brew Competition in Chicago Eric Carmen won 4 medals.

FOAM Cup in Oklahoma Mike Florez won one medal.

All American Competition CMI took 16 medals including 1st BOS: Eric Carmen and 3rd BOS: Brian Ezell

Bockfest: CMI took 4 medals

Saison Fest: CMI took one medal

Hammer Down: CMI took 12 medals

National Level Competition:

Regional medals: 3 total medals in Indy – Will, Eric and Rick

National Finals: Eric was second in Category 19 German Wheat and Rye with his famous Roggenbier!
