Cellaring / Aging Beers, and what we can do as homebrewers to help with long term stability of our beers. Look to discuss products to help scavenge oxygen / help with stability (Ascrobic Acid, Brewtan B, K-Metabisulphate). Also what impact age / cellaring has on beers. Bragging rights for the person that brings in the oldest beer (commercial or homebrew). So we’ll do some tastings of a number of older beers I’ve been cellaring and see how they hold up. Some will be good styles to cellar, others will not!
(note that ‘bad’ is not included in the above description!)
The meeting is August 11 at 7:30 PM at Queen City Clay
Big Brew
We have a big brew pot that we can brew 25+ gallons of beer at once and split the wort to see the impact of different yeasts, dry hops (variety, amounts), adjuncts, wood aging, etc. Email Matt B if you are interested.
